What is Tun2Socks?

Tun2Socks is a free user-space networking tool designed to route network traffic through a SOCKS5 proxy using a virtual network interface. It is commonly used in scenarios where you want to tunnel all or specific traffic from a device or application through a SOCKS5 proxy without native support for proxies.

How to setup Tun2Socks with Bright Data’s proxies

How to use Bright Data with Tun2Socks?

Download the application from Google Play store, or from GitHub as mentioned before. Verify that it installed successfully on your device.
Go to your Bright Data Control Panel, enter the relevant zone and copy your username and password.
Open the application and fill the required fields:
- Socks host – brd.superproxy.io
- Port – 22228
- Username – as shown in the zone page
- Password – as shown in the zone page
Click on the ‘START CONNECT’ button to start the connection between the application and the proxy.
Click OK for the pop-up message that appeared.
Two messages should appear one after the other: “Start services” and then “Start services success”. You can also see a new line appear in the notification bar.
To test the connection, open a browser on your device and go to
https://whatismyipaddress.com/. Locate your IP and the location.
Enter your Bright Data zone page and click on the ‘View’ button to see your IP list.
Compare the IP and its geolocation from your zone with the one from
https://whatismyipaddress.com/, and ensure they are the same.

⚠️Important note: If you are using Bright Data’s Residential Proxies, Web Unlocker or SERP API, you need to install an SSL certificate to enable end-to-end secure connections to your target website(s).
